“1957 Little Rock Nine.”

Was this Debate a success, or a FAILURE?

The debate (over whether or not the to allow these nine African American students to attend an all white high school) was a success, but suffered alot of consequences down the way,  Some consequences were, and/or still are: Racism did not end,  It did not end the Civil War,  All schools were not desegregated,  black only schools and churches were bombed.
Another consequence was, it didn't end segregation in other public places such as: water fountains, restaurants, neighbor hoods, restrooms, etc.

Did the acceptance of desegregation come easily?

I know for sure that most people did not accept it, and some were the people who joined groups like the KKK.  Others thought of it like, "I could either hate these nine people and drop out of school, or I can make the best of it.".  A few people such as Grace Lorch, were very accepting and were accepting from the beginning of time.  So, I would say no. The acceptance of desegregation did not come easily.

Can you describe who or what desegregation specifically Helped/Hurt?

It helped alot of the Black  teenaged high schooled , because it opened windows to a better education and a sweeter view on life.

It hurt the Whites who dropped out of school and moved away only because thet didn't want blacks in their schools.
It also hurt the schools because teachers, principals, and alot of other white staff moved away, only because of the blacks.

Why is the little Rock Nine important to  American History?

Though there was much resistance from students and the school administration, it worked, the result of which is national Integration - students of all ethnic origins are permitted into American public schools. It also served as one of the watershed moments during the turbulent civil rights movement, which resulted in more equal rights for all Americans, regardless of color or creed.

Why should we care?

You should care because some of  us here today, wouldn't be here today, or maybe this exact spot.
You should care because more than half of us wouldn't have the opprotunitys that we have right now.
